Finding a photographer to shoot your wedding can be a daunting task, especially for camera shy couples. An ideal photographer should suit you and your fiancés personalities, style, budget, and be able to capture all of your memories that will last a lifetime. Sounds great right, so how do you go about finding this person?
Set a budget and stick to it. If you have found a photographer that you love but there’s just no way you will be able to afford them, ask for recommendations of other photographers that are within your price range. Alternatively, getting married out of season, or on an alternative day to a Saturday might bring the prices down. This is not guaranteed, but always worth asking.
How flexible are their wedding packages?
Will they be willing to accommodate all of the shots that you have dreamed of, or do they stick to a list of more standardised shots?
Will your photographer will have another shooter on the day? If so, will this vary the price and how experienced is this other person?
Above are some important questions to ask photographers when enquiring about their services. Other questions that you will want to address are: what insurances and back up equipment do they have and how long you will need to wait before you receive your photos?
If possible, meet your photographer in person before you decide whether or not to book them. First impressions are crucial and can easily alter your decision.
Finally, when you feel that you have found your photographer, don’t feel pressured to book them right on the spot. Take some time out to make sure that you are making the right choice.
