It shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that planning a wedding can be hard work. Weddings can be as big or as small as you want them to be and as long as you have the basics covered, everything else is just an optional extra!
In todays blog we are going to look at some of the basics involved with planning a wedding, to help getting you and your fiancé on the road to planning the wedding of both your dreams!
Choose a Date
Starting to plan a wedding can be daunting at the best of times, so we advise that the best place to start is for you and your partner to decide on the date for your wedding.
The date that you choose to get married on could affect a variety of different aspects throughout your big day. Do you dream of having a cosy winter wedding, or would you prefer a warm summer wedding?
You will also need to take into consideration things like school holidays and where your destination will be for your wedding, to ensure that all of your guests will be able to attend with ease.
Many people decide to have their wedding celebrations over the weekend for convenience, but if your guests may be able to attend a weekday wedding with plenty of notice, you could cut a lot of money from vendors as these days are normally not as much in demand.
Now that you know when your wedding will be it is important to decide how much you are willing to spend on your big day. Weddings can be planned to any budget as long as they are planned carefully.
I personally recommend listing all of the aspects of your wedding that are most important to you and your partner, be it the venue, the dress, the photographer or any other detail. You may find that you need to make cuts with some parts of your wedding to have something that you are dreaming about. DIY and asking your guests to help with certain things could also be a great way to save money!
Wedding Guest List
Your guest list should include everyone that you would love to attend your wedding. Figuring out your budget for you and your fiancés wedding will also help you both to decide how many guests you will be afford to invite to your wedding.
Are you dreaming of a big fairy-tale wedding where everyone you have ever met will be able to see you getting married, or would you prefer a small gathering with your nearest and dearest? Deciding on your guest list early on in the planning process will allow you to have a better idea of what kind of venue you will require to hold your wedding party.
Start Thinking About a Venue
Choosing the right venue for you and your fiancé to get married as well as where to hold the reception can be a daunting task. It’s important to take into account the day of your wedding for your venue. You may have seen an outdoor venue that you love, but if your wedding date is in the middle of winter where it’s going to be cold or there is a high chance of rain, you may want to reconsider your options. Nothing is off limits, as long as you prepare in advance and make sure that the venue can provide everything that you need, (especially the date!)
